Waveguide Solutions is seeking GIS Engineering Technicians to assist with engineering projects of Fiber Optic Networks.
This is another brand new position within the GIS/Engineering department and is open due to the growth of the company. The GIS Engineering Technician will develop and update GIS maps, drawings, and data detailing telecommunications plant and related equipment; specifically for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of fiber optic networks and infrastructure. This work will include the creation, editing, collection, and verification/QC of spatial data and associated attributes using ESRI’s ArcGIS software. This position will report to the GIS Manager and will start off as a temporary role and not initially be eligible for benefits.
Essential Job Functions:
The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented technician capable of supporting data and mapping needs required to design, construct, identify, deploy and track telecommunications infrastructure and services. The GIS Technician will undertake the following responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Your entry level knowledge of current ArcGIS systems (ArcGIS 10.8.x, ArcPro 2.x, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access) will be required to accomplish your role successfully. Knowledge of and experience with other GIS and CAD software (including open source software), Trimble software and hardware, AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, SQL Server, Visual Basic, Python, HTML or other programming languages and of web and database design, development and maintenance are highly desirable.
Requirements and Working Conditions:
Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work.
